OVERVIEW
What an Azure landing zone gives your organisation
An Azure landing zone is the foundation underneath every workload you run in Azure. Following Microsoft's Cloud Adoption Framework, it sets out how subscriptions are organised, how networks connect, who can do what, which policies apply and how everything is monitored and costed.
Without that foundation, Azure tends to grow one project at a time: inconsistent naming, public endpoints left open, owner rights shared too widely and bills nobody can explain. Retrofitting controls later is slower and riskier than building them in from the start.
We size the landing zone to your organisation. A smaller business may need a simple structure with sensible guardrails; a growing enterprise may need separate management, connectivity and identity subscriptions with hub-and-spoke networking. Either way, the design is documented and agreed before anything is deployed.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
What the platform build includes
Scope is agreed after the assessment and depends on your workloads, compliance needs and connectivity. A typical Azure landing zone engagement covers four areas.
Structure and governance
- Management group and subscription design
- Naming, tagging and resource ownership standards
- Azure Policy guardrails for regions, services and security settings
- Role-based access control mapped to your teams
Networking and connectivity
- Hub-and-spoke or Virtual WAN network design
- Private endpoints and controlled internet access
- VPN or ExpressRoute connectivity to offices and data centres
- DNS and firewall configuration
Identity and security
- Entra ID integration and privileged access controls
- Microsoft Defender for Cloud enablement
- Key Vault for secrets and certificates
- Backup and disaster recovery policies
Operations and cost
- Azure Monitor and Log Analytics workspaces
- Alerts routed to your team or our NOC in Bengaluru
- Budgets, cost alerts and usage reviews
- Documentation, runbooks and handover
HOW WE DELIVER
A staged plan. No surprises.
01Assess: Workloads, compliance and current use
We review any existing subscriptions, the workloads you plan to run, compliance and data-residency requirements, connectivity to your offices and the skills of the team who will operate the platform.
02Design: Target architecture and guardrails
We document the management group hierarchy, subscriptions, network topology, identity model, policies and monitoring, and agree the design with your stakeholders before anything is deployed.
03Build: Deploy and validate the platform
The landing zone is deployed in a controlled sequence and then validated: policy compliance, network paths, access roles, backups and alerting are tested before the first workload arrives.
04Operate: Onboard workloads and optimise
We help move the first applications in, hand over runbooks and can continue with managed support, cost reviews and policy updates as your use of Azure grows.
WHY REDTREESUPPORT
Why RedTreeSupport for your Azure platform
- Microsoft authorised partner and reseller, so Azure licensing, subscriptions and implementation come from one team.
- Azure, Microsoft 365 and Entra ID designed together, so identity and security stay consistent across cloud and workplace.
- Managed IT and NOC support from Bengaluru if you want help running the platform after go-live.
- Documented design and a structured handover, so your own team understands and owns the platform.
AZURE PLATFORM FAQ
Common questions about Azure landing zone & platform build.
What is an Azure landing zone?
It is a pre-configured Azure environment covering management groups, subscriptions, networking, identity, policy, security and monitoring, built to Microsoft's Cloud Adoption Framework. Applications are then deployed into it rather than into unmanaged subscriptions.
How much does it cost to build an Azure landing zone?
Consulting cost depends on the number of subscriptions and environments, network connectivity, compliance needs and the level of documentation and support you want. Azure consumption is billed separately by Microsoft. We provide a fixed-scope proposal after the assessment.
Is a landing zone only for large enterprises?
No. The same principles scale down. Smaller organisations get a simpler design with fewer subscriptions, but still benefit from policy guardrails, secure networking, backups and cost alerts from day one.
We already use Azure. Can you fix what we have?
Yes. We assess your current subscriptions against the target design, then move resources and apply policies in stages so running workloads are not disrupted.
Can you migrate our servers and applications once the platform is ready?
Yes. After the landing zone is in place we plan and carry out migrations of servers, databases and applications as part of our Microsoft Cloud & AI services.
Can you manage the Azure platform for us after go-live?
Yes. Our managed services team can monitor the platform, respond to alerts, apply updates and review cost and security posture under an agreed service plan.
